NATIONAL CONSULTANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Mongolia Country Office of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), an international development agency, is inviting prospective individuals to provide consultancy services.

Consultancy:

National Consultant of Economics and Inequalities for Population Situation Analysis

Duration

The national consultant is expected to work for 30 working days starting from mid of April 2020

April 5, 2020, 05:00 pm (GMT+8)

Specific responsibilities:
The Population Situation Analysis (PSA) will be conducted by a group of experts, consisting of an international consultant (Team Leader) and two national consultants with the support provided by the UNFPA Mongolia Country Office and UNFPA Regional Office. The National consultant of economics and inequality analysis is responsible for developing the PSA section on Overview of the situation of the country and Relationships and Impacts: Relevance for Public Policies. He/She will work under the guidance of the Team Leader and revise the context after having reconsidered the range of chapters.

Qualifications and requirements

  • Post-graduate University Degree or equivalent (preferably Ph. D.) in economics, social policy, and gender, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of increasingly responsible professional experience in economic and social research, include periodic updating of technical skills:
  • In-depth knowledge of social systems and social delivery modalities, issues and challenges, as well as national policies, substantive knowledge of gender issues.
  • In-depth knowledge of development related issues and challenges,
  • Proven drafting skills and ability to work in a team. 
  • Solid understanding of research methodologies, and/or proven expertise of research in social science
  • Demonstrated capacity for strategic thinking and policy advice is essential. 
  • Familiarity with UN and UNFPA operations will be an advantage. 
  • Must be committed to respecting deadlines of delivery outputs within the agreed time-frame.
  • Be fluent in Mongolian and English with strong writing skills.
