Ikh-Uul Soum commits to Three Transformative Results

Ikh-Uul and Tudevtei soums of Zavkhan province have been selected as target sites of the “Accelerating the progress towards the elimination of preventable maternal and perinatal mortality” project, supported by the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

The UNFPA assessment team held a field mission to the soums, where they had an excellent opportunity to meet with Member of Parliament Ms B. Bayarsaikhan and Governor of Ikh Uul Soum O.Odontuya to discuss the project.

During the meeting, the governor of Ikh-Uul soum of Zavkhan province pledged the local government’s commitment to the Three Transformative Results: zero preventable maternal death, zero unmet need for family planning, and zero gender-based violence and harmful practices.

Ikh –Uul soum’s Youth Development Centre is ready to be launched next month to provide training on life skills, support young people in developing practical job skills, provide counselling in reproductive health and career guidance, and enable young people to meaningfully participate in decisions that affect them while providing a fun, safe atmosphere for local young people to grow.
