UNFPA and UNITEL partnership increases rural youth’s access to reliable information and knowledge
Darkhan-Uul Province, Mongolia – 9 June 2022 – UNFPA and Unitel LLC launched the E-Hub digital library in Darkhan-Uul Province on 9 June 2022 at the Youth Development Centre under the Family, Children and Youth Development Department of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection.
Through partnership, UNFPA and Unitel LLC are working to increase access to youth-friendly online information and knowledge through the establishment of the E-Hub in Darkhan-Uul province. The E-Hub will provide a comfortable learning environment and access to e-books and other e-knowledge services for youth in Darkhan-Uul Province.
The opening ceremony of the E-Hub in Darkhan-Uul province was attended by Head of the Family, Children and Youth Development Agency of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection G. Batdorj, Deputy Governor of Darkhan-Uul province B. Javkhlan, Head of Darkhan-Uul province’s Family, Children and Youth Development Department A.Amgalan, Head of Office of UNFPA Mongolia Dr. Khalid Sharifi, Executive Director of Unitel LLC D.Enkhbat, and children and youth of Darkhan-Uul province.
During his opening remarks, Head of Office of UNFPA Mongolia Dr. Khalid Sharifi said, “We are delighted with Unitel’s support and commitment to supporting adolescents and young people in Mongolia through partnership with UNFPA. The E-Hub will improve young people’s access to information and services, which will then contribute to young people reaching their full potential.”
Strengthening youth participation, ensuring their sexual and reproductive health and rights, and ending gender-based violence are core focuses of UNFPA’s activity in Mongolia.
UNFPA is working with the Government of Mongolia to prevent gender-based violence, support youth development, and improve access to sexual and reproductive health services in Mongolia.
