21 October 2022 – Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia – UNFPA Mongolia and Unitel Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding to expand its partnership in the area of youth development, particularly for ensuring adolescents and young people have access to knowledge and life skills needed for a healthy, productive future.

Upon signing the Memorandum, Head of Office of UNFPA Mongolia Dr. Khalid Sharifi affirmed, “UNFPA is happy to expand our partnership with Unitel Group in line with UNFPA’s 7th Country Programme (2023-2027) to support the Government of Mongolia in the areas of sexual and reproductive health and reproductive rights, youth development, gender equality, and women’s empowerment.”

 

Mr. D. Jamiyansharav, Chief Consumer Business Officer of Unitel Group, signed the memorandum from Unitel Group’s side and expressed satisfaction with the expanding partnership with UNFPA with regard to youth development.

Since 2019, UNFPA and Unitel Group have jointly supported the “Mandukhai” project, a new online service which has reached over 700,000 adolescents and young people in Mongolia with accurate and age-appropriate sexual and reproductive health information.

By signing the Memorandum of Understanding, UNFPA and Unitel Group are committing to expand their partnership in the next five years for youth development and empowerment, particularly marginalized youth in Mongolia, through improved access to accurate information and knowledge about life skills and family planning to enable them to reach their full potential.
