Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia – 15 June 2022 – From 15 June to 16 June 2022, Mongolian Federation of OBGYN (MFOG) organized a two-day training for health service providers on the subject of clinical management of rape and Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) with support from the Mongolian Ministry of Health (MoH).

The training started with the opening remarks by Dr. G.Navchaa, Head of Medical Services Division of MoH, and Ms. Oyun Banzragch, Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment Programme Specialist of UNFPA. During the opening speech, Ms. Oyun Banzragch stressed the importance of the role of health sector professionals in the multidisciplinary team in preventing and responding effectively to Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Domestic Violence (DV), which functions at the primary levels with their professional expertise. She hoped today’s training would be a crucial part of strengthening the health sector response to GBV as the sexual violence, particularly IPV is very much private, hidden and complicated issue.

Throughout the two-day training, it provided comprehensive health sector responses to GBV following the WHO’s international guidelines and clinical management protocol, which consists of the introduction of seven steps of health care service to GBV, group works, role play, and case studies on the health services to the women and girls.
