NATIONAL CONSULTANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Mongolia Country Office of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), an international development agency, is inviting prospective individuals to provide consultancy services.

Consultancy:

National Consultant on In-Dept study on Adolescent Birth Rate

Duration

The consultant is expected to work full time for 40 working days starting from April 2020

Specific responsibilities of the National consultant are:

  • to review the available literature, meet relevant key informants and get thoroughly acquainted with the country context related to fertility for the last decade;
  • to analyze the raw data of the SISS 2013 and 2018 and key variables of health and education system database using SPSS or other statistical platforms in order to identify independent factors controlled for the effect of other confounding factors that influence ABR using appropriate statistical methods;
  • to conduct a specific analysis of the factors influencing the fertility-related behavior of selected population groups such as young women, poor, herders, women and girls with disabilities, young women living in soums provide a different level of schooling and etc.;
  • to write a detailed report describing the methodology, findings and evidence-based recommendations and linkages with the facts identified from country context analysis;
  • to organize and facilitate a consultative workshop on findings and recommendations involving relevant stakeholders such as ministries, government agencies, health and research institutions, NGOs and development partners; and
  • to ensure that the comments and feedback received from stakeholders during the consultative workshop are fully incorporated into the final report.

Qualifications and requirements

  • Advanced degree (at least Masters) from a recognized academic institution in development studies, social science, public health or related field;
  • At least 7 years’ experience in conducting research and data analysis, both quantitative and qualitative, including authorship of a research paper in a peer-reviewed journal;
  • Proficiency with database and statistical analysis software;
  • Experience of data analysis, and traceable record of producing reports of excellent quality;
  • Experience of working with the United Nations and engaging with government and ministries is desirable;
  • Working knowledge of English; and
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
