The Mongolia Country Office of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), an international development agency, is inviting prospective individuals to provide consultancy services.

Consultancy: Roster translators and interpreters (Individual consultant contract)
Duration The consultancy period will be for 11 months
Issue date: 21 June 2021
Deadline date: 7 July 2021, at 6:00 pm (Ulaanbaatar time)

Purpose of the consultancy:
To provide translation and interpretation service for UNFPA Mongolia CO as a roster for 11 months.

Scope of work:

UNFPA will select translators and interpreters as its roster for below services. Hereto:

-     Written translation from/to English and Mongolian languages
-     Editing of translated documents in English and/or Mongolian languages
-     Consecutive interpretation from/to English and Mongolian languages
-     Simultaneous interpretation from/to English and Mongolian languages

Interpreters and translators are required to provide its translation and interpretation service in the area of UNFPA’s specific area as follow:

-     Gender; Gender-Based Violence; Domestic violence
-     Health; HIV/AIDS/STI; COVID-19; Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights; Maternal health
-     Population development; youth development and education; family planning; adolescent health; early childhood development
-     Legal documents related to the areas above

Required expertise, qualifications:

Minimum requirements for translators and editors:

  • Fluency in English and Mongolian language;
  • University degree in health, gender, social science and linguistics or other related fields.
  • At least 5 years of experience of written translation and editing service;
  • Proven experience of translating documents relevant to UNFPA’s specific topics both from/to Mongolian/English.
  • Previous good record of service, English language translation and editing, to UNFPA, UN agencies or other international organizations is an advantage

Minimum requirements for simultaneous and consecutive interpreters:

  • Fluency in English and Mongolian language;
  • University degree in health, gender, social science and linguistics or related field;
  • At least 5 years of proven record of experience providing simultaneous and consecutive interpretation services.
  • Previous good record of service, English language translation and editing, to UNFPA, UN agencies or other international organizations is an advantage

  • Sample of translated and edited documents.
  • All-inclusive price quotation (the quotation is subject to negotiation by UNFPA should it exceed allowed threshold).
